Description

A lone pine tree growing from boulders stands atop a rugged and knotted system of roots against a backdrop of a clear sky scattered with clouds. The tree and its roots are rendered in a stylized manner that gives the scene a surreal and vibrant appearance.

On a hike at Big Bear Lake i saw this magnificent tree growing from these huge boulders. I scanned the original transparency and did a digital oil paint rendering to create the final image.
