Shot this tree on a hike up to Castle Rock near Big Bear Lake, California. It was the middle of the day, but shooting directly into the sun gave it the starburst flare and the dark, eerie look. I added the falcon to complete the composition.The clear blue sky provides a vivid contrast to the dark outlines of the bird and tree branches.

I began my photography career doing feature stories for local newspapers and magazines in Michigan. I have also done commercial studio and public relations work. But I always looked for creative imagery and image-making techniques, even while I was doing assignment work. I attended every seminar I could, and read dozens of books by creative professionals over the years. The work I am presenting here is a result of that constant search to capture and share what I see and experience and create. It is a never-ending passion.
