Description
I photographed many flowers in Spring after the winter rains in Southern California. This Matilija Poppy was among the fresh wildflowers, and lent itself to a slight abstract treatment to accentuate the texture in the petals and the stamens. A close-up of showcases its delicate, ruffled petals and a vibrant orange-yellow center. The petals exhibit a slight translucence against a soft, green blurry background.
